Oklahoma Indian Student Honor Society
OISHS UPDATE (July 14, 2020): Dear nominators and nominees for the Oklahoma Indian Student Honor Society, we, the OCIE Board of Directors, regret that notification of accepted students and distribution of certificates has taken so long. We realize that 2020 graduates have not yet received their honor cords and that many have already walked or will not be walking due to the pandemic.
Please consider that we are a board of volunteers who all have careers. The pandemic has created significant challenges in our ability to collaborate and prepare packets for students. On Tuesday, July 14, the audit committee will be conducting our annual audit; in addition, we hope to complete the printing of a handful of certificates and package them along with honor cords for graduating students and a small keepsake from OCIE. We have struggled greatly to hold work days to prepare the OISHS materials. Work schedules, other commitments, distance, technology issues, and a lack of available work spaces, including schools, have been impediments to our process. We are confident that we can complete the packaging process and then work toward sending/delivering the packets to schools.
We will be observing appropriate social distancing practices on what we hope will be our last work day (our fourth) for OISHS this year. We welcome any prayers, positive vibes and energy, and any other kind of spiritual thoughts you might send out way as a handful of us from across the state meet to work in Tulsa. Again, we humbly apologize for the excessive tardiness of this project. We appreciate our members and their ongoing support. Take care and stay safe.
